How to Free Up Memory on Android Phone

This step by step guide will show you how to free up memory in order to install an considerable large app on your Android phone. But do realize the size of an app you install on your phone does depend on how much memory your phone has internally/externally.

First pass:

  1. Go to Settings > Storage Then tap on "Apps" under Total Space Heading.
  2. Then tap "Clear cache".
  3. And Total cache memory should show 0.00B when done.

Second pass if need more memory. If you need more memory even after doing the above then you will need to move apps to :

  1. You need to try moving apps to an external storage. Check out my article for How to Free Up Memory on Android Phone.
  2. You need to try find some apps you are not using or in need of that you can uninstall from you Android phone. However, I don't know about your phone but on mine:

You cannot really uninstall any of the apps the phone came with b/c even if you uninstalled them it would just remove all the updates from it & reinstall the factory version of the app it came with.

Good luck!

How to Move Apps to Sd Card

This is a quick step by step guide to show you how to enable moving apps from your phone internal memory to the SD card (external memory) you have for external storage on your android phone. I have only tested this on my android phone which runs Android 4.0.1 (Ice Cream Sandwich), but it should work on any android phones running 4.0 or higher android OS (operating system) versions.

  1. Go to Settings > Storage.
  2. Then tap "Default storage location".
  3. And tap "SD Card" Option if it is not already selected.
  4. Then "OK" for the Attention Confirmation Dialog that pops up.
  5. After that the system should start porting some of your apps to the SD card. For the others just select the app from Settings > App under Download & tap "Move to SD Card" & the app will be moved from your phone internal memory to your SD card.
